Alan Getts, MD

Dr Getts

Dr. Alan Getts is originally from Illinois. He came to Augusta while in the military in 1984 and has lived here ever since! Dr. Getts is a graduate of West Point, University of Illinois College of Medicine, and he did his residency at WalterReedArmyMedicalCenter and at MadiganArmyMedicalCenter. Dr. Getts also completed a fellowship specializing in Adolescent Medicine, and was one of the first 100 people in the country board certified in that subspecialty. Dr. and Mrs. Getts have 3 children and 3 grandchildren. His favorite activities are camping with the grandkids and golf. Mrs. Getts keeps him awfully busy in the yards and gardens as well! Dr. Getts founded Covenant Pediatrics in 2005 after separating from his earlier practice, Pediatric Partners. In both practices, Dr. Getts has served as the ‘managing partner’ and he is completing his certification as a Certified Physician Executive. This training prepares doctors to better understand the business part of medical practices – especially in these tumultuous times. Just to keep himself a little busier, Dr. Getts is also a Colonel in the Army Reserve Medical Corps and he has been activated twice in support of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
